High Risk of Injury Amongst Warehouse Workers

In light of the surge of online sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in warehouse workers nationwide and pressure to fulfill production quotas at the risk of their safety and health. Amazon reportedly hired approximately 500,000 warehouse workers in 2020 to satisfy the demand for the fastest deliveries for record-breaking online orders made during the pandemic. As a result, there has been a rise of COVID-19 cases and musculoskeletal injuries from packing, bending, and prolonged heavy lifting amongst warehouse workers at Amazon fulfillment centers. On September 22, 2021, California Governor Newsom signed Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez’s Bill 701 into law to prevent hazardous health and safety conditions and limit the unsafe production quotas that create a risk of injury for workers at warehouse fulfillment centers.

If you have sustained injury at a warehouse fulfillment center, Khanuja Law is here to help.
